Coherent Raman Microscope
Coherent Raman Microscope describes a set of label-free methods that image structures by displaying the characteristic intrinsic vibrational contrast of their molecules.
Coherent Raman Microscope comes in two popular variants, Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering (CARS) and Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS).
The crucial advantage of these methods is that they do not require labeling, and hence the sample remains almost unaffected. Instead, the image contrast arises from the spectroscopic properties of the various chemical species found in organic material.
The system consists of: handheld microscope, scanning galvanometer, laser, photomultiplier detector, two-dimensional translation platform, preamplifier, data acquisition system and computer.
Applications: biomedical imaging, cell imaging.
