Cylindrical Lenses
CPG manufactures high-precision cylindrical lenses, which focus light onto a line rather than a point, unlike spherical lenses. The curved surfaces of a cylindrical lens are sections of a cylinder, directing the light to form a line parallel to where the lens surface intersects a tangent plane. This design compresses the image along the axis perpendicular to the line focus, while maintaining its original shape along the parallel axis.
Cylindrical lenses can be used to correct ocular astigmatism, though toric lenses are more frequently preferred for this purpose. Additionally, cylindrical lenses are sometimes applied in solar water heating systems, such as in pillow-type plastic solar heaters. They are also commonly used to shape the output of diode lasers, transforming the elliptical beam into a round profile.
CPG offers cylindrical lenses in a variety of materials, including plastic, optical glass, and certain infrared materials. We also provide aspherical cylindrical surfaces for enhanced performance in these products. Our lenses are widely used in fiber lasers and similar applications, and we also supply Powell lenses specifically designed for fiber laser applications.
CPG provides interferometric measurements as test reports for cylindrical lenses, ensuring rigorous quality control over power and irregularity specifications.
